Where in the World is Dr. Jones?! / by Maris Jones

Dearest Gentle Readers,

Did y’all miss me?

The travel tales of Dr. Maris Jones are making their way back…

Much has happened since I uploaded my last blog post, including a brief stint in a Nepalese hospital while recovering from food poisoning, which, unfortunately, threw a wrench in my blogging schedule. Once I returned to health, my teaching responsibilities took precedence. Sadly, I never got around to finishing the drafts I started last year.

I look forward to catching up on the backlog now that I have had time and stillness to process 2025, as well as my first year as a professor. I’ve visited many places and spent time with many loved ones around the world since last March, so I have much to share with y’all! Plus, I have been called both by Spirit and y’all, my beloved readers, once again, to resume my writing practice.

Truly, I’ve really missed storytelling with words and images. Pray that perfectionism stays out of my way!

Red beans and ricely yours,

Dr. Jones

P.S. The total number of countries (including occupied territories) I’ve visited has now reached 39! Meanwhile, the global oil crisis created by nonsensical wars will certainly determine whether or not I will have the opportunity to journey to new places and add to my list anytime soon…so here’s to honoring the privilege of having globetrotting memories!
